In This Land

There are a great many continents in the sphere of Viridi. From desert to tundra, bogs to beaches, but only one holds the title of "Garden": Saltu. This overgrown land mass is teeming with flora and fauna of every kind.

The people who live here are in a time of metamorphosis. With the push for greater and greater industry with the introduction of firearms and a trans-continental railway that hovers through the trees.

Such plentiful resources make for easy pickings to those greedy and savvy enough to take them. There are no shortage of fools and ruffians willing to halt the wheels of progress for a quick payday. Justice and law become ever harder to maintain with the advent of hell-spawn finding more and more ways into the material plane.

What this place needs is someone willing to fight back. Heroes. And in a ramshackle bar on the edge of a stinking bog, five travelers hear the call.

This is where their legend starts.

The World

Saltu is one of the largest continents on the sphere known as Viridi. Unlike the arid Terranova to the southeast and the tundra of Adligat to the northwest, Saltu is dense with life from tip to toe; Tall evergreens in the north, marshalnds in the south, and covered canopies dripping in the infamous Hangman’s Moss.

The gods are said to live among the Titan Mountains, each born from or having mastered a piece of creation. Half a century ago, they were highly involved in their land and spoke loudly. Now, they have grown silent in their mountain sanctuary. They give little. Their gifts small, their voices muted, and their will uncertain.

An industrial boom has consumed much of daily life. Many scientists and inventors flock to the land. The Inter-couny Railway System has made the transportation of people and goods a simple matter. Firearms have become more and more common place in recent years, and so too has gun ownership.

With all the promise of a better future, crime has exploded across the realm. Trains are attacked by bandit gangs and firearms make violent offenders all the more dangerous. Sheriff’s posses have been established to help maintain law along with the establishment of the Blazewood Adventuring Academy to bring a widely agreed-upon code of ethics. But it is an uphill battle.

Malbyn Underfoot

Halfling | Paladin | Oath of Vengeance

Malbyn was a skilled craftsman at a young age. Her father taught her the way of the forge and path of bullets. With her mother and younger brother, she lived a quiet life until The Whispers came. Not hushed secrets, but scoundrels of flesh and bone that craved what all flesh and bone craves: To be full.

They had their fill of violence and bloodshed, reducing the city to rubble. The townsfolk, using Malbyn’s skill of the forge and an unlikely ally in one of the bandit’s grunts, managed to do away with the invaders. With the town saved and a future ahead of its survivors, Malbyn volunteered to help find the befriended grunt’s sister.

Her story begins in the ashes of what remained. She cannot go back until her quest is complete and the great Whispers are little more than a name. A family’s legacy on the end of a bullet. All lead a righteous cause.

Nyx

Fallen Aasimar | Wizard | Bladesinger

The witches of Greenwillow, Esme and Nyx, were once praised for their skill and knowledge, which they gladly devoted to their kinsman. It wasn't until the cracks started to form, did chaos take root.

Reality fractures challenged the good witches, leading to the death of Esme's husband in the form of a mysterious illness. The townspeople were quick to blame his recently widowed wife. Knowing her time was coming, Esme put her child under the care of Nyx before facing the pyre.

Nyx was at a loss. She was unable to fulfill her promise to Esme and abandoned her charge when scrutinizing eyes turned her way, hiding away in a distant swamp.

After many years, her seclusion has come to an end. She rides past her guarded gate-- damnation on her tail and redemption in her eye.

Human | Bard | College of Lore

A bard, who belongs to Saltu's finest bars/brothels, Ezekiel ("Zeke" to his friends) is a scoundrel with a heart of gold.

A songster who's willing to trade bed and food for a tune or two, Zeke is a chaotic soul who believes in helping himself...and others if he remembers between drunken escapades.

If you've got time for a drink, a song, and a friend, Zeke will be happy to oblige. Just don't forget to mention if any local loan sharks or debtors happen to come round.

Ezekiel Atticus Plimpkin

Cicatrix

Callisto | Warlock | Pact of the Chain

Born to a star named Arcturus as she went supernova. The circumstances of his birth sent him flying close to the speed of light, directly towards Saltu.

After nineteen years in space, he crash-landed on Viridi and must learn everything on the fly.

Having zero knowledge on how the world works is sure to get him into some wacky situations.

Rare Dust

Tabaxi | Monk | Way of the Shadow

In Saltu, tribes of cat-like humanoids groom their children for success in the material realm.

Not much is known about the creatures. Not where all of their villages reside, lesser still of their culture and practices. But their children are thrust from their homes on a regular basis to become worthy of a position amongst their people.

The mysterious being known as Rare Dust is of such a heritage. They are fresh on their journey— ready to make their mark upon the west. For better or worse.
